My Social Media Resume
is my attempt to gather in one place all the ways I am socially
constructing my online identity.
I have participated in
many forms of social media on the Internet since I first went online in
1993 – from early listserv-type discussion groups and discussion boards
to the social-networking venues, such as those at the right and more. I
have been a member of some of these networks for several years; others
I joined when I launched this page.
Call it research; call
it an experiment – I would like to see what will result from building
profiles (socially constructing my online identity) on as many
social-networking/ social-media sites as I can.
I got the idea for a Social Media Resume
from the page of that name by Bryan Person, although I actually
modeled this one more on the Social Media
Bio of Rohit Bhargava.
It's probably a good
thing I don't have a stalker – that I know of. – as this social media
resume would make it pretty easy to learn a lot about me.
I saw three results
within 24 hours: A Google
alert for "Katharine Hansen" for my Ziki profile,
stating: "Katharine Hansen uses Ziki as a self marketing tool to
promote her personal brand and be listed on the top of search engines
results." A couple of my new profiles came up in the first few pages of
a Google
search. And I was invited to an online yoga seminar as a result of my Xing
membership.

I created about myself in pecha kucha style, the Japanese approach of
no more than 20 slides and 20 seconds per slide,
for a total of 6 minutes and 40 seconds (OK, I confess that my
presentation is 7:30). If you have problems viewing the presentation,
you can view it on YouTube:
