Kettle Falls 2009

Kettle Falls 2009

Having bought 27 lovely acres in Kettle Falls, WA, in the fall of 2008, we spent our first summer here in 2009.
This site is also shows the story of our RV trip to Kettle Falls and the trip back to Florida. Click on Photos above to see.
Kettle Falls has a fascinating history. [Go here to learn more.] The original falls, says the City of Kettle Falls Web site, “were magnificent to look at, plummeting 40 feet into the mouths of huge stone caldrons,” the caldrons giving the town its “Kettle” name. But those 40-foot falls are now submerged under the Columbia River, along with the remnants of the original town of Kettle Falls. Along with 11 other towns along the Columbia, the original Kettle Falls was flooded in 1941 when the Grand Coulee Dam opened. Most of the towns simply disappeared, but Kettle Falls was one of a few that relocated – to its current location.
